For desert climates like Las Vegas, consider growing varieties such as the Louisiana Purple or Chewing Cane. These are known for their hardiness and resistance against pests, making them perfect for harsh climates. You can also try rooting some from Mexican markets when available.

When to Plant: The ideal time to plant sugarcane in Las Vegas is in early spring (March to May) or late summer when temperatures range between 70°F and 80°F.
Spacing Requirements: Sugar cane grows like a grass, so it doesn’t need too much space apart. Do harvest to create space when it’s ready which is about 2 years for maximum growth.
